What’s happening in Wales?
Last week it was confirmed Exchange for Change would be the Deposit Management Organisation for Wales’ Deposit Return Scheme (DRS), launching in October 2027.
This news means that Exchange for Change will now oversee the delivery of DRS across England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales.
Wales will be the only nation to also include glass, alongside PET plastic and metal, within its Deposit Return Scheme.
The Welsh Government have confirmed that PET plastic, metal and glass containers will be included from day one of the scheme, with a four-year period when glass will carry no deposit.
