Retailer Neil Patel chooses Co-op Wholesale as partner for future growth

Co-op Wholesale has announced a new long-term contract with NP Group, strengthening its partnership with one of the North West’s most respected independent retail operators.

NP Group, owned and operated by experienced retailer Neil Patel, runs six Nisa fascia convenience stores across the region, including sites in Manchester, Darwen, Ilkley, Colne and Castleford.

The new agreement cements a multi-year relationship between NP Group and Co-op Wholesale, underlining Neil’s confidence in the strength of the partnership and its ability to drive sustainable growth. Retailers working with Co-op Wholesale benefit from access to Co-op’s award-winning own brand range, a market-leading logistics network and outstanding fresh food proposition.

Neil Patel, Owner of NP Group, said: "As an independent retailer, you’re never short of options – and it’s fair to say that other symbol groups were very keen to bring us on board.

"But when you look at what Co-op Wholesale offers – from the strength of their own label, logistics, and fresh food proposition – it’s clear they are building a wholesale model that truly supports growth.

"That reassurance and vision was what made this an simple decision in the end. I’m confident that with Co-op Wholesale as our long-term partner, NP Group is in the best place to thrive."

Paul Webster, Partnerships & Sales Director at Co-op Wholesale, said: "We’re delighted that Neil and the NP Group team have chosen to commit to a long-term future with Co-op Wholesale. NP Group is a fantastic example of ambitious independent retailing, with stores that are at the heart of their local communities.

"This agreement demonstrates how our offer – built on quality own brand, leading logistics and an unbeatable fresh proposition – is helping independent retailers plan for growth. We look forward to supporting Neil and his teams to achieve even greater success."

Beyond their retail operations, NP Group also plays a leading role in supporting local good causes through Co-op Wholesale’s Making a Difference Locally (MADL) charity. To date, the group has donated more than £20,000 to community assets including Manchester Central Foodbank, The Darwen Heritage Centre, Collaborative Women and The Rhubarb Club.
