Browns reopens Oversley Mill Services in Alcester after full rebuild
Browns Food Stores has officially reopened its store at Oversley Mill Services, located on the Alcester Bypass, following a full knockdown and rebuild that has completely transformed the site.
The new store features a bright, modern design and a significantly upgraded offer, centred around fresh food, food-to-go, and the trusted Co-op own-brand range.
Now supplied by Co-op Wholesale, the Alcester site is one of two stores in the Browns Food Stores portfolio and is the first to trade under the Browns name. The relaunch marks a major shift away from the location’s previous forecourt-style operation, repositioning it as a top-up shopping destination for both passing motorists and the local community.
The redesigned store includes a greatly expanded chilled and fresh range and introduces the new Browns Kitchen concept - a dedicated food-to-go zone serving up hot food, meal deals, and a wide range of on-the-go options tailored to busy lifestyles.
Harry Brown, of Browns, said: “We wanted to build something people actually enjoy visiting, not just a stop-off. Browns is now a place where customers can do a genuine top-up shop, pick up fresh food, or grab lunch on the move. It’s a completely different experience to what was here before.”
He added: “We’d never offered fresh before, now it’s one of our strongest categories. The Co-op range helps us compete on quality and value, and it’s transformed how people use the store.”
The transformation has been delivered in partnership with Co-op Wholesale and gives Browns access to an award-winning own-brand range, alongside a competitive rebate and flexible wholesale model.
Phil Howell, Key Accounts Manager at Co-op Wholesale, said: “It’s been brilliant to support Harry and the team in bringing their vision to life. Browns at Oversley Mill is a fantastic example of how investment, ambition, and the right partner can completely change the role a store plays in its community. The result is a modern, food-led destination that still meets the needs of forecourt customers but goes so much further.”
A formal launch event is planned later this year, with the Browns team also exploring further opportunities to roll out the brand across future sites.
